yes, too much work for a mild RA but no doubt it will be unique.

Got the rad in yesterday with very little modification. It's an AE86 rad which was about 2" wider than the stock RA21 rad. Made up 2 aluminum brackets to make up the difference. Any idea what fan these things are set up for? It has threaded bungs for a fan but I've no idea which fan to use.

Finally got the car up on ramps so I could weld up the AE86 rear sway bar. The pit has been blocked by my sister-in-law's Sunrunner for months now so ramps were an easier way to go...
No real issues here, just had to make the mounting brackets. Bit of burn-through on the floor pan but some 20g steel sheet fixed that up.

Next step is moving the panhard mount in 3" to fit the AE86 T3 Panhard or getting a custom panhard made 3" longer. Moving the mount is cheaper...

My worst fear is that I will have put all this work into it and some critical component will break and I'll die in a fiery blaze... or worse, it will handle like a shopping cart.

I can't drift... at least not on purpose...

Finished up the panhard bar by moving the chassis mount in 3" to fit the length of the ae86 bar I had.

Also finished the braided lines from the remote masters to the reservoirs. Things are tight under the dash...

Started working on a shroud for the rad that will also be the electric fan mount. I'm planning to cover the face of it with aluminum sheet with a hole where the fan goes, but, with only a 12" fan, I wonder if that will be free flowing enough, or if I should use a mesh instead of solid sheet...

    Finally finished the fan shroud...

    And the remote reservoirs...

Need to find some flexable 1 1/4" hose for rad hoses as the formed AE86 hoses don't fit. A few wiring tie-ins and double checking fuel connections are all thats left before I can try starting the engine. Then I can find out if my frankenharness is good. I'm getting excited now...

Is there room to flip your fan to the other side? Since you went with a rad with the inlet and outlet on the same side, theres not going to be much cross flow, the majority of the flow will be on the PS. The fan would be more efficient on the other side.

No, I have very little clearance so the fan hits the water pump pulley on that side. I'm hoping the shroud will help. There is a piece of clear polycarbonate covering the space beside the fan, though you can't see it in the picture.

One step forward two steps back...
So I got maxattack's 20V shortblock which obviously doesn't fit the oil pan I made, so rather than mess around with modifying another pan and pick-up, I decided to use an AE86 crossmember I had modified to fit the RA.

Now I have wider track so my steering rack doesn't fit, gotta get an ae86 rack...
Also figured I might as well up the ante on my tranny strength with a w58.

Swung it all in and everything lines up pretty well.

Need to modify the tranny crossmember a bit and had to cut the shifter hole back a couple inches but everything is looking good.

Its wider than stock by over 2", can't remember exactly how much but it will fit with the wider track with the 7.5" when it gets installed. Lots of - camber now.
