Making a classic that's in such good shape into a drag car is retarded. Boo urns, molest something domestic and a dime a dozen unlike ra21s. Thumbs down.

was that the only car you have picked up?

I'd have to agree about the drag racing. I think you could build a nice street machine capable of 1g accel/decel and lateral. that would be cool. IMO.

I already have that in the levin, now I want to go fasterrrrr lol. Not to mention you guys have access to regular autocross and track days up there in calgary, we have 3 autocrosses a YEAR.

Drag racing is a lot more play time, besides don't be disillusioned thinking this wont be a street legal car that can't go around corners. Swap in some different dampers and springs and it'll still go around corners quite well

I guess I assumed you were gonna turn it into a drag beast that hardly looks like a celica anymore.

    -1992 Celsior 1uzfe
    -8 440cc 7mgte injectors, cleaned and balanced
-Megasquirt2 v3.0 modded to run all stock ignition system
-20gal Summit fuel cell, Surge tank, walbro 190lph pump feeding surge tank and Bosch 044 primary fuel pump
-All -AN fuel lines and fittings, -8 feed and -6 return
-Crown a340e transmission (slip yoke tail shaft)
-Relay boxes to convert trans to full manual control thus eliminating a need for a transmission computer
-Precision Turbo Billet 6262 ballbearing turbo t4 Vband housing w/.58AR (this thing will SPOOL)
-all v-bands for exhaust and turbo
-A2W intercooler setup (core, heat exchanger and pump)
    -Precision Turbo 39mm Wastegate
    -Greddy Blow off valve
-1989 2WD pickup axle (converting to 5lug anyways)

Had to rebuild some hood hinges

Turbo oil drain using the old lexus oil level sending unit

Gutted all the accessories and hydro-fan pumpetc, as this will only be running an alternator

Missing a few pics but i brought the car in garage and started into it last week, took a little over an hour and the old 18rc was pulled and tossed into the skip!

Trial fitting the engine to see what i needed to do for a crossmember and heres the beginnings, the engine is a front sump config and this is going to be a bit of a tight squeeze but should fit alright

Crossmember will be built to allow usage of current Steering config and then easily weld on some rack brackets later on and swap to a rack and pinion setup

had a couple spare hours so i stripped the interior, cut out the firewall and did some test fits

    floor is pretty clean

    tunnel cut out

    Engine fits pretty good

Tried to keep the steering box but i don't have a choice, cylinder #7 fire right into the steering box, no room for a manifold

Lots of room on passenger side

This is turning out exactly like the Silly Rolla thread. First chance you get a few hours to yourself you stuff a V8 under the hood of something that weighs only two or three times more than the motor itself.

    I'm loving it!
I hate Corollas but I don't think I can do better with anything else

You are out of control Mr. Groenink. I can't wait to see this come together. What are the plans for chassis stiffening?

havent given it much thought yet, once it runs and drives and i get kicked off the drag strip for needing one then i'll worry about it lol this chassis is really solid right now so i'm not too worried about it yet. Need to get the mechanicals sorted and working first :-)

For now yes but converted to full manual only operation (no D auto mode) they're usually good to 400whp in the very heavy lexus so in a much lighter car it should do ok, might switch to a tremec 6spd one day but we'll see
