Well I might agree with you if the donor was some minty, low miles all original garage queen but considering he's rescued it from 25 years of being a lawn ornament any life it gets now is better then it had.

    Steve
Well get the motor running, but you might wanna think about the chassis stiffening before you start running more then 300 to the rear wheels. Buddy of mine with a 350rwhp\410lbs\ft 7mgte in his mk2 Supra twisted his frame running like that before he got to the chassis work. He had to get it straightened at a frame shop, he couldn't even close the doors! Mind you his car was rusty at the time and not as strong as a factory original, but still, these Ra2x celicas with no B pillars are even floppier then mk2 supras out of the gate.

Are you going to convert the front to 5 bolt too? Won't the truck axel be some funky pattern? Adapting the mx8x front strut assemblies is an easy way to get 114x5 up front if you want it. Requires a little angle changing though.

Yeah the plan is to either try and use mx83 struts and control arms but if that doesn't work there is a race car fab shop in the states that does an ae86 10" brake and 5lug conversion for like $700usd

It will be caged but I need to see/decide how fast the car will be first so I know to what specs I build the cage for. This car will be much easier as it's not going to be a long distance cruiser with all the amenities

You're not going to want the mx83 control arms, nor need them (they'd be much longer). The strut pattern is different, but on Pete's we used AE86 steering arms with the inner strut mount hole ovalized to mate to the ra\ma6x strut casings he runs (to get bigger brakes). I belive the mx83 strut casing pattern is pretty similar if not the same, you could run the same arms he did. The celica ball joint is the same as the AE86 one, but the supras and cressi have a bigger one with a bigger shank on it.

I guy on CS.com just built a low budget drag mk1 Supra (mostly stripped interior) in with a 1uz with the stock auto, nitrous and with a few trick bits with the rear axel to get rid of the hop and make it hook. On his very first run down the quater he did 12.05.

Your love for small Toyota's with big Toyota engines is wicked.

As with the Levin project, I can't wait to see how this progresses.

    Engines in and mounts built

had to Cut the firewall pretty extensively

Its about 2" sunk, all in all not really bad

have to get creative for a brake master cylinder

Passenger side mount, turbo exhaust dump will be routed through here (mount/crossmember not fully welded yet)

drivers side mount (not fully welded),

    view of drivers side

waiting on my Steel Rack&Pinion mounts before I drop the cross member out and finish welding/bracing everything. Havent made a decision on brakes yet, might switch to a non-power assisted ae86 setup or worst case a tilton pedal box assembly

Steve, I've got a manual shift controller setup for the A340 if you're interested. Bought it when I was going to run the auto in my car.

Is it a tiptronic one or just a full manual conversion one like I have(ie three solenoids and two diodes)?
