    1974 Celica ST

    Hi there

Seen the car sitting in a gas station parking lot with a for sale sign. Call the number on the sign and found out the car belong to a retired gent who had owned the car since new and had moved out of province. A friend of his was selling the car for him and told me the old guy wanted around 20,000$$ !! WE both laughed and I figured he had seen to many Barrett Jackson actions. I was told to come back after they had a chance to discus a more realistic price and was please to hear the price was now 3500.
It had had carb problems with that solenoid on the carb and was not running right . The engine is a 18RC with a 4spd trans . Plans are to switch to a 5spd and a bigger engine I am thinking a 20R as there are more bolt on performance parts and it is a simple bolt in. The car show 38,000 miles and was told that was not driven much by the original owner.Click image for larger version.

Awesome! Keep that thing mint, its worth alot more then you paid thats for sure, and will surely increase. You could flip it for big money in California if you wanted one better for modding.

Looks awesome. That's what I'm going to do with my racecar, but with bolt on flares and redder.

22RE would be an easy swap with lots of bolt ons and EFI. Good for a driver.

1stgencelica.com is probably a better place to get a feel for more modern swaps.. there are only a few of us 1st gen guys here.. With a 74/18RC there are no real completely bolt in affairs.. with a '75 crossmember, oil pan, pickup you can bolt a 22R(E) in.. and it'll sit under the stock hood.. thats a bit of an upgrade over the 18R.. but its not fantastic..

Depends what your goals are.. 4AG wont have the torque of the 22R.. but its fun to rev and would make a fun daily driver type car of it.. but they're not much newer tech than the 22R..

3RZ would be a nice upgrade.. especially if built a little..

Where'd you get your front spoiler from?

I got the spoilers from groupb who sells on the 1st gen celica web site You really have to keep after him if you want your parts but they eventually showed up. Anyone swapped a 2RZ?? are they pretty much the same as the 22re?? Thanks Ken
