So update: as many of you saw the car was rolledonto its side by some ****-rats when I was away. Then ICBC did more damage while it was in their posession and luckily I had taken pictures while stored at their lot. What does this mean? They are paying and its getting fixed!

    Getting the body treatment.....again.

    Paint! Again.......

    Unmasked!

Now while waiting for the bodyman to get to it, I decided to wheel it in and put in that '74 sr5 rear housing, trd 2 way lsd, and 4.3:1 ring and pinion. Don't look for a pattern, I wiped most of the dye off.

    Moar block!

Less driveshaft! Yup it was too long so had to remove 1 inch.

And had to fab up some ghetto shock mounts for the housing.

Just have to put it back together and try driving it with the lsd.

Or you could have said "sorry, my kidnap victims keep kicking my elbow, it made me drop my crack pipe and swerve"

    Neat!

    Pictures of the damage?

The blocks above the leaf springs, those are to make the rear suspension stiffer?

    Correct sir.
It would appear that most people do not know how leaf springs work and how to lower a car with leaf springs... LoL

Glad ICBC is paying for the damage that they caused.

Did you find the kids that rolled the car? Glad they did not put it on it's roof.

    Looking good again.

yeah thats what i thought it was for, if the axle sits higher on the leaf springs, the car sits lower...

But if the axle was under the leaf spring it would raise the car

    Ohhh

Ok now that I use my hands to mimick the axle sitting above the leaf I think I get it.

and the block in turn compresses the shock.

    Suuwhaa eeeat!!!
Cool man, good to you the car looking like it was!
Cant wait to hear your feedback on the lsd, and I'm glad you are putting that old rearend to good use. nice blocks too!!
Wider rear track as well right? I think it was a full 2" wider than the small axle.

So yes, its all back together and striped!

Abominus, you must have seen me when I was out for a quick run to work some of that friction modifier into the clutches. My slip is officially limited and I likes it a lot! Some random shot of the rear below-Paul as you said 2" wider track so now I have to roll the rear wells out more. It rubs over every little bump. Man that trd unit is a tight beast! And I'm going from the stock 4.10 unit to the 4.30 is a little weird. Too soon to tell if it is for the better.

Oh and this is just a random shot of the ghetto-riffic camera mount I've been using for autocross. You too can make a ball-mount type for under $30. I have a larger one for in-car.

Oh yes, I will be there!

Now I just wonder.....will I drive more aggressively or more conservatively?

Lame-sauce update but just used up some scrap steel to make an in-car camera mount. My local autocross club wants them really fastened down well.

    Scrap.

    Bend.

    Gusset. (for vibration)

    Mount behind seat.

    Drive!

Wish for a better camera and quieter fuel pump.
