    Man that sucks, poor sir.
But the 86 will be much happier with a Toyota engine in it again
Your sr part out should pay for most of the uz swap

Sr part out wasn't too bad, I still have two transmissions, tons of smlaler stuff, and my SR86 mounts/driveshaft kit still. Tell your friends!

I did some homework tonight, i even coil binded that ****! If only I put the same amount of effort into my schooling as I do my car. Education is important, but racecar is importanter.

So I got bored waiting for things in the mail so I did some artwork. I'm trying to make myself feel better about having less horsepower, but having all of the torque.

And parts showed up. Boring parts. Waste of money maintenance parts. It's okay though because I've got something special coming in the mail any day now.

I got a spreadsheet with those torque numbers in it - you can punch in your tranny and rear end ratios, tires size and vehicle mass and you get armchair drag racing. pm me your email if you want it

I found a dyno plot on some website that had all the specs for the 1uz and Toyota motors. I haven't bought headers, I'll probably make them myself because unless I buy a mount kit as well I'm sure the engine position will differ.

I miss my SR, I really do. I wasn't going to source another complete motorset. I'm hoping to learn even more from this swap, I think it'll be fun.

So Thursday was my birthday, and look what the UPS guy dropped off. There's duty due but they left it on my driveway, are they going to bill me or is it a birthday gift?

What is it? It's ****ing huge. What kind is it? 2008 High Rev JK40C 350z transmission, which is the same thing as the 370z unit.

Holy mother of god that thing is freaking huge! Good thing it's remote shift, the stock shifter location would probably put it closer to the rear passenger grip than anything else lol

I think you made the right trans choice.
Lots of shifting but I'm sure it will make up for it in reliability.
    Nice work Spence

When I was comparing prices between an r154 and other transmissions, for the few extra hundred dollars I could get this. It's only got 30k on it, has an extra gear, shifts nice, and apparently holds more horsepower than I could ever put down. I figure if I'm going through the pain of putting a manual transmission behind a 1uz it might as well be the last one I have to deal with. Do it right the first time.

Sooo tidy! I'm surprised you didn't paint the front coolant bridge, or are you covering that with plastics?

    S13 Black top - 180sx's post-94 (Garrett T25G turbo)
    S13 Red top - S13 Silvia and 180sx pre-94 (Garrett T25G turbo)
S14 Black top - 1994-98 (notchtop) Silvias - Variable Cam Timing aka VTC was introduced on the intake cam (Garrett T28 journal bearing turbo for Australian and European markets and Garrett T28 Ball Bearing turbo for the Japanese market)[1]
S15 Black top - 1999-2002 Silvias. As S14 but with PTU within ignition coil packs, 6-speed manual transmission (Garrett Journal Bearing T28 for Europe and Australia and Ball Bearing T28 turbo for Japan)

The 2.0 L (1998 cc) SR20VET was the first turbocharged engine from Nissan with variable timing and lift control. It produces 280 PS (206 kW) @ 6400 rpm and 309 nm @ 3200 rpm.

thats about 270hp. I think when you start to go over, and im sure your motor was not an SR20VET, even for the SR20VET, if you tune to 350hp, you are going to be burning up your engine parts every pass on the drag strip, or every track day. I think you just had a normal blowup that comes with such a tune, esp if you were cranking it every day in the hot sun. You had to probobly go with larger pistons, bore and hone the cylinders to larger diameter and thicker rods and beefier crankshafts - etc etc If you expected to have that kind of tune last. And dood, dont you think its time to move out of your parents house? LOL

FYI if you have an early model 1u harness and you downloaded all those wiring diagrams off the internet they gonna be hella wrong. I learned this first hand.

Go there spend $15 for the day and get all the proper diagrams, with the proper pinouts and wire colors. Hell download a bunch of other ones too just because you can.

That fault wasn't due to failing internal parts, it was either tune or cam timing related, likely cam timing. Probably detonation definitely high EGT's. The weak point in the motor was the pistons at that point. I'm still in school, I've got three months of schooling coming up for my 4th year electrical. Smart man doesn't move out an buy a house when he's out of work annually like that, and have you seen my garage? My parents are chill that helps.

Yep I figured that out pretty quick, pinouts aren't even the same. I'll definitely check out that link regardless, thanks! I've been doing a lot of cross referencing, I'll make sure I post up all the wiring info once I know it's right if I choose to go with the stock ECU, I'm trying to squeeze a PS1000 into the budget but I'll see how I look financially after school.

It's about that time. I think I've underestimated this whole ordeal.
