Wow, it’s been a while since I updated this thread. I should have an interesting build over this winter, so I’m going to try to keep updating as interesting things happen.
So up until a couple weeks ago I was rockin’ the GZE, but got tired of it and put it up for sale. Now that it’s gone I can move on to better things.

    Greasy!

After spending about 2 hours scrubbing the engine bay, it began to look a lot more like new.

It fits really nice, tons of firewall clearance.

Since I’ll be making a lot more power than before, and a custom driveshaft will already be needed for my new setup, I figured I had better install the MA47 rear end. I’m hoping for 240-250hp.

After spending a whole day trying to remove the axles from the donor GTS diff, I gave up and resorted to this. I tried heat, slide hammer, more heat, WD40, slide hammer, heat; then finally, trucks. Hooked one axle to the Land Cruiser, and one to the Duramax. I ended up snapping a grade 8 bolt holding the chain links, and sent the diff flying 20 feet, and the axles didn’t budge.

    This took 10 minutes.

Mocking up the jig from the GTS housing.

From the length of the cooler in the engine bay I would guess an inline 6.

2.0 L turbo in an inline six, rb20det?

I know, I was going to get my Dad to video it, but he had to be in his truck holding the brakes, cause I was just dragging the thing. Even with him in it I was still lunging him when I was booting the clutch.

Newport, what makes your regret an SR swap?

    Pointless...

The supra rear will bolt right in. I think all I did was hack the spring mounts off and eyeball them on.

Meh, I figured I would just do it right. It's not like I have a set date to have this complete by, I just want it running for late March 2011. With the supra rear end having larger bracket holes I was worried about rear end play. Did your adjustable panhard reach as far as the stock supra mounting location?

So I picked up a few new parts the other other day. I don't think I can thank my parents enough, I'm actually starting to realize the **** I put my parents through. I've always got my car in my moms bay, leaving her car on the driveway for weeks, and if I don't leave a mess somewhere in the garage, spill oil on the concrete, or just have half the third bay full of corolla parts, bumpers, diffs, motors; with even more parts in the backyard my dad still encourages me to work on my car. I think when this swap is over I'll be treating them to a nice dinner out.

IFS differential from a Tacoma. It's got an open diff I can weld, and a 4.10:1 R&P to boot!

And this, god damn does it make removing any old bolt effortless and quick. Princess Auto, $54.99.

Everything jigged up and ready to be welded. Upper brackets bang on 45 degrees, lower shock mounts both bang on 90 degrees. Look like this jig is working perfect.

I don't know anything about welding, I just know how to weld. These look good to me, I think. Undoctored.

Done, well almost. I ran out of cut-off discs, so I'll need to pick some up tommorow and do the shock perches. I'm also going to try to get that IFS diff ripped apart.

I took a bunch of measurments of the brackets, looks like everything placed perfectly on the diff in the jig; everything is exactly where I want it to be. I'm quite happy.

So I was supposed to have a bunch of parts here by now, but they got backordered. They told me they would ship out the radiator, intercooler, and BOV flange, and ship the rest out when it arrives.

    The intercooler showed up black....

Now I've gotta call tomorrow and figure this out, cause I don't think I want a black intercooler, I think its going to get scratched easily, and is always going to look dirty. Is it powdercoat or paint?

Should I keep it, or return it?
