    rywat's 86 hatch

Figured I'd start a little build thread here, so here goes:

    1986 sr5 automatic:

Bought with a blown engine, 150,000kms on body, minor imperfections:

    At home in the driveway:

Went to Pick and Pull a few days later to pick up another 4ac for the time being:

After that was installed, fired right up. Ran ok.

Few days later I stole my buddies supra rims, gave them a fresh paint job:

Once those were on, I realized how badly it needed a drop. Short on funds, I did what most would do, cut the springs!

Gave it a nice claybar/polish/wax job and put it away for a bit:

Then I finally decided to try to make it run better, bought a carb rebuild kit and did that for the first time. Outcome was good, not a very big improvement, but a little bit smoother. And I painted the headlights yellow for fun

Also installed my racing seat, RCI Harness, Old School white steering wheel and hub.

About a month ago it blew the headgasket so thats the end of the 4ac and automatic. I didn't know if I wanted to run a 4age with dual sidedraft carbs or not, so I beat around the bush for a long time. I stumbled on to a GTS donor car with a thrown rod bearing. I bought that and am waiting to pick it up and start the swapping process. I will be transfering everything from that to my current sr5, making it F.I. and a 5speed

    The donor car:

And the most recent pictures taken last week. Car barely runs and had a hell of a time moving it down the street:

Can't wait to start ripping it apart! Let me know what you think!

+1 I'm not sure if I like the white rims on a white car. I can't believe the rainbow rolla has surfaced! Even if it's only a donor car now...

Heading home next weekend. Going to pick up the gts parts car and an engine hoist. Hopefully I'll have the engine and tranny out of the sr5.
