I joined the Jeep Recovery Team(tm) on sunday, pulling an XJ that was stuck in a creek.

After that, I used the finesse line over the bridge.

My buddy's 86 4Runner doing the 'other' line

We 'wheeled all the way up the snow line and stopped in a clearing for lunch

I was gonna say looks about 8" cut out. That's about the same as I want to cut out of mine.

9" makes for symmetry. My spare is still in the stock spot, a 33" JUST fits down there. In your case, as long as you have enough bed size for your spare and other junk, bob off as much as you like. Lots of guys bob them right to the shackle mounts for better departure angle.

If you're not afraid of a heatscore, then dovetail the bed at the same time

yeah a lot of guys do that, but I'm looking for the bed to be symmetrical also. Not a big fan of 14" bobbed beds or dovetailed rigs unless they are a fullsize

I forgot about this thread! I finally bought my dream truck awhile back, i paid cash too and then was broke for almost 2 weeks after haha. It was worth it though, cummins, 5 speed extended cab, 4x4, air bags in the back, power options! first vehicle ive owned with power windows and locks haha and even non working a/c!
Its decent on fuel too, unloaded and driving like a normal person i get 450 - 500kms to 60 - 65L
