It's not a plug n play swap .. just so ya know..
Its been enough years since a couple guys I know did it that Ive forgotten the specifics.. but its not just bolt-in.. at least the pumpkins arent.. dunno if perhaps the entire subframe could be swapped..

well your celica should have a straight axle rear not irs so the supra most definatly is not a straght swap over. It's close to the 7.5 ifs diff in the toy pickups i think but don't quote me. I am having the same problem figuring out what swaps into my 81 cressida straight axle. The ring and pinion from the supra might swap into your carrier.

brett is right. we went to install a supra lsd rear end in a celica gts and it was way bigger.
simply pointing out stupid
As said above 82-86 'Celica' GT-S is 6.7" T-series solid axle w/drum brakes. That means any aftermarket Zenki AE86 GT-S LSD (TRD/Cusco/Tomei/Kaaz/ect) will work - IIRC.
The OEM Zenki AE86 LSD might, but I doubt it. I would guess/think it may have axle length problems (bottoming out in the splines before the axles are seated). Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...
82-86 Celica Supra's are 7.5" IRS.

Wow. This thread is crazy.
82-85 Celica ST, GT = Solid 6.7"
83-84 Celica GT-S = IRS 6.7"
85 Celica GT-S Automatic = IRS 6.7"
85 Celica GT-S Manual = IRS 7.5"
82-86 Celica Supra = IRS 7.5"
Which means, if the original poster has a manual transmission, the Supra LSD will bolt right in. If he doesn't, then he can get the subframe from a Supra and bolt that in. If he wants to get an LSD into it while keeping the 6.7" (If he has a 6.7"), he can use a Zenki AE86 LSD, and shorten the axles by around 8mm.

To clear the air. Squirellytoyota has a gts with manual trans and irs. He also has a volkswagen. Now flame him.

Hehe. Atleast I was partially right. I was going off the 1-2 mid 90's celica gt's I've looked at when at the J/Y that had drum rear brakes and a solid axle.
That's why I said correct me if I'm wrong (cause I wasn't 100% positive), thanks Jeff.

Thank you Jeff, the 85s with 7.5s should really be more common knowledge. Its also the only way to get a 3.9 7.5 diff with LSD that I know of, though the LSD was an option so don't assume all 85 GTSs have one, mine didn't![]()

According to my catalog, only the MA61 had the LSD. I see no listing for LSD on any RA6x's, not even the 7.5"

The 7.5 in 85 is pretty common knowledge on celicasupra.com but everyone says it came with an LSD as well. Maybe none of them did, I thought I saw it on a site or brochure at some point too though.
Yeah, the 85 celica-supra (MA61's) came with LSD & 4.30's (where I got my 4.30's for my MA46 diff swap). But the 85 celica RA6x may not have... And according to Jeff it didn't. He's a fairly reliable source of info usually.

Yeah my celica is an 84 so it has the 6.7 which means i had to swap in a supra subframe. I have the rear end out of a JZZ30 soarer wchich i believe is an f-code Torsen. I have yet to try to fit it in my ma60 housing tho.
