Doin' it! Even got the girlfriend in on it today starting to dismantle my ae86 struts.

Got my MK1 rear end down to a bare housing. The R&P look really good so I'm not going to tear it down any further or replace the pinion and carrier bearings. LSD members look good and looks like play is low. Next step will be to get the housing cleaned up cut the spring perches off and move them in to match the new chassis, and add some bracing to the link mounts.

I'm going to take my front subframe out and bring it home to do some welding. Get my rack mounted on to it for one. I'll also be taking measurements of the engine bay and will mock up mounting the engine and trans to the subframe to make some adjustable motor mounts for the 1UZ. Then it will be test fitting the engine in the bay. Should be fun!

Shortening strut casings tomorrow and modding supra housing and crossmember.

Take 40mm out of the strut casing to run SW20 rears?

    Derp derp derp.

Worked all the livelong day. Only had time to take a few iphone snaps. MK1 supra housing is all modded and ready to go. $truts have been shortened 40mm.

Fitting engine this week. Everything will look more excite in paint.

Bet you wished you had hockey pucks don"t you Motorfix?

    LCAs are now longer

Lots of fore-aft adjustability. Makes for easier engine placement and adjusting it's squareness.

Pretty cool project. I love the 1u. One little critique though. Hockey puck motor mounts aren't that affective. In a factory mounts the motor and chassis are fastened to plates that are bonded together through rubber. When you use the hockey pucks they literally become spacers and not fasteners. When the motor torques it will pull on the chassis through the bolt on one side and compress the hockey pucks on the other causing the bolt to float loosely. Over time the pucks will distort causing the bolts to be loose. I imagine tolerances in the engine bay are a bit tight and over time that motor will start to shift around.

A lot of people like to use energy GM trans mounts for universal install. Looks like you have room in there to make those work.

Yeah, i agree pucks aren't ideal. But they will let me fit everything and move forward for now. Definately not a long term solution though.

BHG'd the firewall a bit. Figured out where the engine will sit.

    Next things to do:
-Subframe spacers. These will be necessary to close the hood. Don't have to be very big (15mm ish)
-Remake all the underhood brake hardlines and reposition the proportioning valve.
-Brake booster mount blockoff plate for manual brakes.
    -Figure out trans crossmember solution.

    Parts in the mail:
    -Trick flow inline fuel pump.
    -Poly bushings
    -Shocks all around
    -Pads for ae86 front calipers
-shank style nuts for ye-olde libres
-Tires for said aforementioned ye-olde libres

keep an eye on those lugs you buy, when i had those wheels a few years ago 2 of the wheels have a thinner bolt face and I had to turn all the lugs down in length on a lathe to make em fit.

Yeah, they do. The washers are a little big though. I think that's why the one wheel has that little crack by the lug hole. And its all been pretty used and abused. Just want new.
