    Finish Car.

    Put stock steelies back on.

Drive down island, confusing those on the highway that keep trying to pass but for some reason can't keep up.

I think 99% of people will think it's just a little old eco box regardless of the wheels. Might be able to drop a gear and light up the bicycle tires on the steelies in 4th though.

Major setback. Rack and sump trying to occupy the same space. I kind of knew this was coming but didn;t have measurements so I was living in self denial. This thing isn't going any further without a manual rack.

This is a front sump. Steve, I guess technically it is not the "sump" that hits, it's the alluminum , i dunno, upper sump they seem to be called. It does not extend down far from the block, but i was playing with not much space between the bottom of the engine and the crossmember.

The easy solution is to space the subframe more and make the motor mounts taller but that's crude. Moving the rack mounts down is another option, but that will be bad for steering geometry. A manual rack would buy me some space just because the diameter of the rack housing is smaller and if i still needed to space the subframe, I could. I need a solid 25-30mm more space i reckon.

    Edit:

A final option is that I quit being so anal and raise the engine in the bay. I think the hood would let me get away with it. I just really wanted it as low as possible.

the combo of hood ground and subframe clearance.
big motor small car, sacrifices must be made.
I hate spacing the subframe down, I would try everything else first

Times have changed, last time I checked no one was producing re-man. Apparently you still can send your manual rack away to get re-maned, but who would do that lol

Bolted the engine and trans together, jammed it in, ****ed around a lot, got angry and cut a big hole in my trans tunnel. The new tunnel has that step in it because it is inspired by F! aerodynamics. Also to clear the heater box. Looks kind of gross with just spot welds but it turned out well. Then i seam sealed the hell out of it.

Also, I have a working clutch pedal now.

    Also, I made a new trans X-member.

So now i can finally hook up everything and start this thing this week. I need to get my driveshaft shortened too.
