    Ae86 street project

1985 Toyota corolla GTS. First day that I actualy start working on my car. I picked up the car in Toronto a couple months ago. My goal right now is to get it running and looking as good as I can before may 15. On may 31 its the ride for Paul Walker so I want to attend with the 86. This ride on the 31 will be the first day really I get to drive the car.

Car came with new Toyo proxes R888
    Tomei steering wheel
    braided brake lines
    rebuilt calipers
    new brake master
    front upper strut bar

Here are pictures of the car the way I got it.

The interior is in great shape, the seats have no rips they would need a good cleaning. The pump for the seat still works, cant get over that.

Under the hood is another story, power steering hose is leaking, rear valve cover is leaking, I am thinking the oil cooler lines are leaking to. I cant believe the previous owner left it this way, its really dirty.

First thing is to remove the power steering assembly. I do not like power steering, I find you cant really feel the car and and the road with it. I am going to do the manual rack conversion when I find all the parts in need. For now I will loop it. I cant believe how good the bolts came out of this car, they are still the colour gold!

I removed the whole assembly in one piece, so if I need to put it back I can.

Now that the pump and everything is out of the way I can start to remove the header. The whole exhaust is shot, the header is the only place its not leaking. So I am going to replace the whole thing.
Before I can take it off the egr has to come off. I don't need it on anymore there is no emission on this car.

yesterday was a good day in the shop I got a lot done. today I am going to take it easy and goest clean as much as I can and inspect the harness and stuff. I found a broken wire on vsv connector on the cold air intake pipe. from what I can find on the net is that its for the idle up for the ac. this is the broken piece, its the wire that's broken I could fix it but its really close to the end and soldering it will be really hard.
so I spent most of the day tinkering and this is how I got it now.

Buy some wheels lol. CBY shop cars run a 16x9 -40 with 225/45.
    I'm doing a 17x9 w/ 225 17x10 w/ 235/40.

    Nice work on the mold.

I know the cby are huge, I got the car like that. I am looking for low offset wheels, here in Ontario there is not a lot of options. I might rip theme off and put some smaller ones, time will tell.

Don't bother soldering, just crimp a connector on there and heatshrink.
Gaskets are cheap, I used to use Twos R us/Cabe toyota/etc, there are a lot of options.
Oil cooler hose just go to any parts store, don't forget new clamps.

I would spend a few bucks to replace the hose between the throttle body and AFM. Not sure what's going on there but it looks like a giant leak waiting to happen.
Just get a silicone one. If you can make it a bit shorter, you will be able to get the AFM to sit level, instead of facing down.

Take good care of your interior, don't strip it, don't lose it. Cleaner than 99% of our interiors.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. So the plane for this week is to get all my parts for the fuel line and filter upgrade. Order my rad, f.... hope they have it in stock would like to put that in this week end.
Saturday I am going to pic up a header in Montreal.

I cant crimp the wire of the vsv, its broken to close to rubber of the valve. If anyone knows if that vsv on the cold air intake is for the ac and if I can remove it that would be great.

Oh and if anyone knows a good place to order fender flares, and some side skirts would really help. Thanks!

I got bums hiding under my huge flares, cant let that happened.
