    Small update.

So it turns out that the rusty GTS rear end that came out of the donor hatch had a kouki TRD 2 way in it. Looks like my $100 investment payed off.

    Before sandblasting:

    After sandblasting:

All nice and coated in POR15

Also did a full fuel system flush on the hatch, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the fuel pump, and flushed out the fuel lines

While I had the tank out, I noticed that the fuel filler neck was starting to rust in a few places so I sandblasted that, along with most of the tank and had it all re-coated, forgot to take pictures before I put it back in though lol.

Brandon, it goes without saying, but be very careful to flush out the sand from the inside of the housing. You don't want any of that in your diff. It looks sexy.

Yeah don't worry, it'll be going through a parts washing tank before reassembly. Last thing I want is to have it chew apart a $900 diff haha

Well I guess it's about time I provide a few small updates to this.

I did some shopping recently. My family doesn't really do the whole Christmas thing and I was feeling kind of selfish this year so I thought I'd treat myself.

Fresh from Japanland: TRD hatch wing

The colour is kind of neat, makes it interesting to imagine what type of car it came off of while it was in Japan, being that vibrant.

    Full set of 4 13x7 0 & 13x7 +8 Hayashi Streets:

Not as wide as I would have liked, but they'll be going on the hatch which is just a mild daily anyways.

    Uber-rare-polished-unicorn-testicle-that-I-paid-way-too-much-money-for:

I bought a KAAZ 2 way a while back and the diff was leaking pretty bad so I figured it was time for a service. So I sent it off to Speed Syndicate in Burnaby and got my pinion seals replaced, a 4.77 ring gear and a Weir Performance solid pinion spacer installed.

    Also purchased, but not pictured:

    Coupe:
    JDM zenki front bumper skin
JDM zenki front bumper turn signals
    JDM zenki front bumper brackets
    JDM zenki front bumper emblem
    JDM zenki rear bumper skin
    JDM zenki rear bumper brackets
    50mm RCA's
    Prothane complete bushings kit

    Hatch:
    JDM kouki front bumper skin
JDM kouki front bumper turn signals
    JDM kouki front bumper emblem
    JDM kouki front bumper brackets
    JDM kouki rear bumper skin
    JDM kouki rear bumper brackets
TRD rear short stroke gas shocks
    TRD Race rear 6kg springs

Now that I have the cosmetics largely out of the way, next on the list is to get my suspension situation sorted out for both cars; shorten front spindles, order front TRD shocks and springs for the hatch, Koni's for the coupe, order camber plates, install panhard and 4-links, install my manual racks, box/extend the front LCA's etc.

I also should note that I finally got my license back this week after a 3 month prohibition due to reasons I'd rather not talk about. And to celebrate I figured I'd spend all the money I had saved from not driving, on the Corollas and give them some much needed suspension love.

At least, that was the plan.

    And then this happened...

Probably the coolest thing I've ever found at the junkyard.

So the story behind this poor R33 goes something like this. The previous owner decided take it out on a public road one rainy night with no license... and no insurance... Ended up drifting it into a tree, and then it somehow ended up at my junkyard which is where I came along and scooped it up.

Some of the goodies the car came with:

    -Rays Gram Lights 57DR
    -JIC Magic coilovers
    -HKS front mount intercooler kit
    -Koyo triple core aluminum radiator
    -HKS SSQ3 BOV
    -Sparco bucket seats
    -Sparco 4 point harnesses
    -HKS EVC
-Apexi FC Standalone & FC Commander
    -Blitz turbo timer
    -Cusco catch can
    -Yoshio Factory water temp monitor
-RS*R catback exhaust, custom test pipe and screamer pipe
-Clarion double din head unit with GPS/Satellite radio etc
    -Nismo GTR rear wing

The damage isn't too bad, passenger side quarter is smashed in and the lower control arm is bent. Subframe doesn't appear to have shifted any and there isn't a terrible amount of damage to the unibody. I'm torn between parting it or fixing it and keeping it. I've always wanted to put an RB in my S13, but at the same time I wanted an R33 for my first car and I never got to live that dream haha.

If I do end up keeping it, I'll probably end up swapping out to an S14 rear subframe and deleteing the HICAS...probably why the kid crashed it in the first place... Heh.

    And yes, she does run:

Keep it, it would be fun to drive around in it, even if only for a bit.

I have seen a few of them on cars in japan but never up close. It has the little notch in it for the rear wiper sprayer and everything. Pretty sexy stuff!

Those are super rare factory toyota, but what makes it INSANELY rare, is that I've only ever seen levin model. Never a trueno one. That's mental.

Skyline dude had his **** towed, and didn't feel like paying the fees to get it out of the yard... my guess anyways.

Did you order all these parts directly from Japan?

The abundance of ae86 parts and cars in BC makes me hurt on the inside but I am loving the plans, I can't wait to see the car when it's done. Glad to see someone else is going to be doing a engine swap into an empty shell. Like that I i can follow along and ask questions for when I am doing mine. How are you going to get rid of the rust? Are you gonna cut around it and weld some sheet metal on?

Sorry I know this is a bit confusing, but that shell that you see in the first few pics was just a guinea pig and is no longer really relevant to this thread. I bought 2 more Corollas afterwards (a coupe and a hatch) and that's what this thread will be about.

Neither of these cars will be getting an engine swap until I find a BEAMS in a decent price range... or with my luck, at the junkyard lol.

As for rust, I already have all the donor quarter panels for the coupe cut out from another car. However I will probably be getting a professional to do those, since there's alot of structural integrity that's been compromised in that car.

The hatch is just sheet metal and I'll probably attempt it myself once I buy myself a decent mig welder.

Some of it came from Japan, some of it (mainly the bumpers) came from locals. I had really good luck and timing with the bumpers.

Nice score on the R33 bud! Just take it easy so I can see these uber-rare parts in person. LOL.

Well it's been a while since I updated this thread.

So I decided to take my Aristo off of daily duty and drive the black hatch for the summer, boy was that a mistake. Black exterior and black interior with no sunroof and no a/c is no bueno in 38 degree heat. On top of that, my exhaust manifold was cracked pretty badly so it was either I roast alive with the windows up, or risk passing out from carbon monoxide poisoning with the windows down.

On the bright side, I took it to my first ever track day on June 22nd at Mission Raceway. I had a lot of fun, considering how ill-prepared both myself (having only driven manual 3-4 occasions prior) and my vehicle were (dying brake master, old tires, stock brake pads, warped rotors etc)

Some cool shots courtesy of Becca:

Definitely learned how important brakes and tires are at the track. I would highly encourage any other newbies out there to get out and try it, but definitely make sure your car is up to spec first. I knew going into the event that my car was somewhat questionable so I didn't push it very hard.
