JDM cars have half bumpers/ bumper brackets, but no rebar.
Also no side impact beams in the doors.
Supposedly there is a model (gtv?) With thinner glass to save weight

This is silly. Half these weights make no sense.

I'll trust weights taken from a set of corner scales.

Go stand on a truck scale and see if it even registers your weight. Let alone accurately.

    lol truth
I've never understood how a unit of measure can vary so much. A hp is a standard unit of energy. It's like saying something is 8" when it's actually 7".

My corolla weighs 1900lbs and makes 170hp. Stock.

    +1

Problem with truck scale is that they are designed to weight 50tons truck... so even if the errors is 100 or 200lbs it's a fraction of a percent so nobody cares where with a 2000lbs car it's 5 to 10%. It's much like trying to figure out your bearing oil clearance with a ruler... not the right tool

Even there, 1/2 tank of fuel is 6gal at 6lbs a gal that's 36lbs of fuel and 200lbs driver so actual weight of the car would be 1820lbs... that's the weight of my car as written on the registration papers... car that has smaller wheel base, is 10inch shorter overall with a 250lbs drivetrain, a 5.7" axle with 8" drums and the silly 8" solid brake in the front and no framerails behind the driver's seat. Makes no sense. As much as we can trust wikipedia for anything, weight of the lightest AE86 stated for the GT model is still 200lbs heavier than that... and the GTV is supposed to be heavier. Even with full carbon body panel, I doubt you be able to get a "non stripped" AE down to this kind of weight.

I had mine weighed at the track on corner scales for reference because a guy made a challenge.

^ never gets old , and got me thinking...

Local waste managment depot with an raggedy set of 20lbs weights in the trunk.

Should be pretty accurate, considering thats how their fee is calculated....not looking forward to the smell though.

We in Victoria all use then same truck scale. It's useful to compare. IF the numbers are wrong it doesn't matter since they will all be off by the same amount.

But I have compared to the weight scale at the track and it damn close. Same with the scale in Duncan.
