Has anyone bypassed their AE86 dash illumination dimmer switch?

My dash illumination switch crapped out, and I'd like to have dash lights again, so I was wondering if anyone had bypassed their switch, and how they did it. I heard you can re-solder the resistor circuit board so they're always on full brightness. Is there a way to use a power and ground from the cluster connectors and wire in a simple toggle switch? Here's a cluster pin out:

It probably crapped out because your dimmer switch failed. see picture attached - the dimmer rheostat controls the resistance to ground. Shorting pins 1 to pin 9 of the dimmer should get you full intensity dash lighting whenever your running lights are illuminated

Thanks Sparkie! Do you have a pin out for the switch connector?

Sometimes the wire in the headlight/dimmer switch pops off the switch. Just a solder connection that can be reattached. Its happened to me, just soldered the wire back on and everything was back to normal.

should be this one if I can still read a wiring diagram

The wires of interest should be the black wire (return from illumination lights - #1) and the white wire with the black tracer (ground connection - #9). Certainly inspect the dimmer switch for loose connections or damage - you may want your dimming functionality back and if the fix I suggest works it isolates the dimmer 100% as faulty.

My dash illumination stopped working after I did a gts swap.
Unplugged the heater controls and all OK now.
Try unplugging everything in the circuit before bypass it

Finally got around to doing this, and it worked great. Since I was in there, I replaced the cluster 194 bulbs with some Philips 194LED's, and they're nice and bright, without being blinding. Thanks again for the info!
