everything is now out of the sedan.

Insurance on the liftback is up soon, so it will be taking the spot of the sedan, and the stock parts will be coming out quick. I'm hoping for a realistic finished date of spring, due to stupid work schedule and no garage, so progress is weather pending.

So the sedan shell is now gone, hopefully it will be getting resurrected.

and the liftback is now in its place, waiting to go under the knife.

did some work on the liftback the last few days. got all the front body panels off to make swap stuff easier, and got the 3tc ready to pull out... not pictured is enduring torrential downpour today to actually pull the 3tc out. ugh.

hopefully sometime this week i can clean up the engine bay, and start cutting up the firewall/trans tunnel to accommodate the bellhousing - and also figure out my new rad mounting plan.

in the sedan, clay had the big ass mishimoto rad stuffed behind the stock rad support, but there wasn't any room between it and the motor, thus needing to use a e-fan in a pusher setup. this was fine cuz the shell was minty and cutting it more would have been sacrilege. but the liftback isnt as mint, and i have like 4 extra inches to play with before the grille and lights, so im planning on cutting the rad support, and angling the rad forward. this way i can put 2 12" efans behind the rad, and keep the car cooler. It would get pretty hot when running frequent laps at the track.

The way BCWorks had my rad set up, water temps were never an issue, but then you have to worry about oil pressure loss. I would put a giant oil cooler with efan in there while you're at it.

Pulled the 3tc the other day, which left me with this:

Thankfully today's stat holiday was a prefect day for wrenching, so I managed to get the old crappy steering box and PS stuff out, along with the old crossmember, brake master and booster, and just a bunch of useless stuff that I wouldnt be needing. I then broke out the angle grinder, chopped the battery tray out, and started planning my rad relocation stuff.

It luckily worked just as I envisioned, and it looks like I might be able to use the stock rad support still to mount the top of the rad to. I'm also stoked that this is going to make it super easy to get that v8 back into the car.

small engine bay= no space for air circulation with a big engine= lots of heat

    In Toyota, we rust.
