Yup im lurking and not contributing...

i bought the sr5 with the 20v from migs... stripped my e7 corolla apart and its been 2 years and ive only been able to take an engine out of a car. how am i every going to finish this swap?

how about a DK bbq swap-o-jamboree out on the farm in High River? get the job done in a day couldnt we? we could setup some rally action and race through the field for some fun aswell before we pull the 20v out of the crashed sr5

Saw him active on Facebook group,

I think a bunch of things contribute to the decline in forum type groups

Facebook partly plays a role since its very quick and easy to use, get notifications when new posts are up is nice and you can quickly skim whats new within the facebook group.

However I also have seen a shift where some individuals are flipping cars, buy 86 parts and over pricing them for profit, etc, these people don't participate in the community persay but the amount of cars still around even in say just ontario is so minimal that it eats up what cars are still around and puts them at un-attainable prices.

The AE86 in ontario is basically a rich guys toy which sounds ridicules, 12k minimum entry fee.

Then you also have all these drift teams now that splinter off and form their own mini groups (which there isn't anything wrong with) but they just hang out with their posse and not with an overarching 86 group.

I've gained alot from DK over the years but I've met a few people who have never been on DK but have heard from other people "dont go on there, their jerks"

hmmm, I have yet to meet any jerks on here, 12k now? ouch. Although it seems like you never seen any ae86's anymore except on these sites, or if you do, its been parted to the point of going to a scrap yard. I hope that these cars aren't getting destroyed to the point that their getting scarce...

So the AE86 is eventually going to pay off from an investment standpoint? I'm going to be rich!!! Oh wait, I spent more than that. Net loss! Net loss!

Yeah unfortunately you tend to have those types of guys in every car community, not just the AE86 one. Any older cars that have any sort of desirability to them will garner that sort of activity. It's particularly bad here in BC with the Nissan s-chassis community.

As for the parts flipping, I don't really see that anywhere except down in the US. Club4AG being a main culprit of that, but meh, you really can't avoid it.

People also need to start realizing that, like all older cars, they're not going to be around forever. The AE86 is no exception. They're dying off slowly one by one. Whether it be some idiot drifting it into a pole or you get rear ended at a red light. **** happens and the prices are only going to keep going up.

    They've been scarce for a while. That's why I don't sell stuff.

The loss isn't real until you sell. Never sell and you never lose anything

I'm probably one of the biggest lurkers on here. I have to thank this wonderful community for the opportunity to connect to local enthusiasts and the chance to be able to locate one my dream cars. I'll try my best to continue to post when i can.

Its the most recent pic I have of it but it should be ready this summer.
