    Hello:

I was told this site would be a good way to find someone to talk with regarding the '86 Toyota Corolla turning 30. I had no idea there were enthusiasts of this particular year, and since it is turning 30, I'd like to know why people are still in love with it, and if there is a particular meet-up to mark the occasion. Since I don't know how this site works, I will provide my email: reneebernard@hotmail.com. Thank you.

August 6th (8-6 day) is the globally recognized day of celebration of these wonderful RWD toyotas. Enthusiasts all over the world organize local meet ups with their Corolla GT-S/SR5's (AE86), Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ and with whatever else they can roll up in. If you want to really find out what makes these cars special, maybe one of the local members in Van can take you for a spin or show you to a local weekly meet. Other than that, there is plenty of stuff online that you can look at.

    Cheers!

    Reuben

Yeah, you're a couple years late for the 30th anniversary of the AE86 as a car. I think they started selling them in Japan in '83, and we got SR5s in 1984.

They're rediculously fun to drive, easy to work on, and very aesthetically pleasing to look at, small lightweight, go kart handling. It's body and interior conjure up feelings of nostalgia for when times were simple, they do not come with electronic stability controls or anything else so you are able to "feel" the road.

Very few cars back then and now offered what the 86 could do.
