    Hi from burnaby

    Hi y'all

New guy here! Thanks for letting me join the squad!

I'm the lucky and proud owner of a 1980 tercel sr5 lift back in the coolest green colour I've ever seen

I'm currently halfway (debatable) thru a rwd conversion / engine swap

Also I am late for work and I have no photos on this iPad... As soon as I get to work and clock in ill sort all that out

    Cheers!!

    Cheers! Im 14 months in

I got the car for free if you can believe it.. it had been bought an sold a few times among my friends . It blew a head gasket (3a engine ) and my buddy just gave up.. i took it home and started planning/ dreaming..

One thing that really got me stoked was the way the engine sat in the car for a fwd car..and the color hahaha ... so i decided rwd swap and something a little more modern upfront

The rwd conversion is an interesting one... i based its design and geometry from the 1980 corolla liftback.. i ended up buying a rear axle control arms. And transmission tunnel from a tow truck driver for like 100 bucks!

Its took quite a bit of time to get a friendly, fully bolt on 4 link conversion.
I redesigned the damn thing 3 times!
(There was also a learning curve with the tig welder)

I am currently trying to figure out trans tunnel/ firewall patching as there is now an enormous hole inside the car

So many photos. Soo many areas to address for an f20c to fit in this thing

I have just finished converting the front steer to rear steer , and supporting the subframe around the engine.

Typing all this make me realized i have a looong way to go still haha 🙄

    Rwd?!! F20c?!!

Can't wait to see how your builds proceeds. Impressive dreaming.

Also, would like to hear more about how you settled on this route? Or the build up to now?

Thanx haha i kinda thought it would be funny ... as in waaay too much effort for this little car . Being a honda guy i always really wanted a 70's civic with the heart of the s2000.. this is the next best thing ( in my opinion)

I was considering a few different options as engines go up the point when i was done with the rwd part ...

beams . Turbo 3s , 13b renesis were all in the running... it just happened that i fell into an engine and trans for dirt cheap .

Seeing guys online sicking these f20/f22c engines in ae86's and kp61's i kind felt like this car needed to have one too! At the time i figured there would be alot of crossover parts that i could cheat with. I was sooo wrong!

    Everything is made from scratch.
(Minus the factory rear control arms from the 80 corolla ) quite a bit had to be done the the unibody frame in order to make the rwb system bolt in

The watts link is totally hand made as well! These things cost soo much money! As soon as i had done some
Reading on them i was obsessed!!

I have a toyota 8" 4x4 rear end thats replacing the toothpick sr5 6.38 diff . But i have some time before that needs doing ..

Its amazing what anyone can do with a welder and an angle grinder.. 😂

ya it's pretty cool. depending on how low you plan to go with the suspension now might be a good time to modify your pickup points to correct the geometry.

I'm real glad to see other people dreaming of projects like this, and then actually undertaking them. Can't wait to see it turning the tires!
