    Let's talk diesels!

After a ratherong hiatus from working in cars, I'm looking into another Toyota project! My plan is this: I've found a 1984 Toyota van that I'm looking at doing a camper conversion with a diesel swap and am trying to narrow down an engine for it. I'm not terrify familiar with diesel engines or what would work with these vans but that's why I've come back to DK! So far I'm looking at a 14bt engine as a possibly candidate. What would you all suppose would be a good fit?

Well after a week of silence I want to encourage you by saying at least I'M excited.

I know little about diesels in general and nothing about toyota diesels in particular though, so I'm of little help.

I believe these vans were available with a turbo diesel 2C-T from factory in Japan, so any 2C/3C variant should be a pretty easy install, though maybe not the best choice if you're going to be doing a lot of highway driving. Cool project you got going though!

I was talking to Gary last week and he suggested a Volkswagen tdi engine instead as they are more plentiful and more powerful(was thinking an alh or an ahu) I went and looked a the van in Kamloops and the thing was really badly rusted out on the rockers and it didn't have matching vin plates so I walked away. There's an interesting find out I Phoenix thst I'm really interested in although I don't have a passport or a tow rig big enough to make that huge haul
