Dash board Mock up, with guages!

Hey all, so I finally have some time to mock up my dash. I will be using some lexan for the finished insert. Mounted all the Autometer guages. All electronic including an electronic Speedo that is in KPH. It is mocked with cardboard right now. I may go with a peice of sheet metal instead of the lexan. I was planning on back lighting the whole dash when all was install, but if I use the sheet metal, that will not happen.

This will be the dash in my 75 Corolla BTW.

    Now to the pics....

Sorry for the resolution, had to use my PDA as batteries on Camera died

I will take some more after I go to the store for some batteries.

    looks real good
can't wait to see the final product (i like the potential for originality w/ the lexan)

any way to get rid of the square around the tach?

Possibly, that peice it to mount it flush, this was originally mounted on a bracket (typical monster tach style). I may 'customize' something to hold the tach in without the flush mount peice.

I will be going to the shop today to cut the lexan out and shape it properly. I will also double up some areas to give support and a place to mount. Then finish the dash, prolly going to sand it like crazy then filler (probably bondo as this what I have). Then stretch farbric over it and finally resin and fiberglas. The sand like crazy again, finally paint. <sigh>

Lexan Cut and shaped, roughly. Vent fits nice too, just have to figure how to attach it again.

I got some batteries and proceeded to clean up all the cracks in the vinyl. I will either be fiber glassing the dash or filling with body filler and covering with some fabric. The shell is nowhere near me right now so in order to glass it, I would need to make a jig to hold the dash from warping as the glass dries

    Oh well

Tomorrow it is off to the shop (this time for sure) to cut the holes with a hole saw and drill press. Then fabricate mounting tabs and drill some holes for the Signal, High beam, and Brake indicators.

That is it exactly. Special ordered through Mopac here in Calgary. Also ordered the sender (it is on the tranny already - waiting to be installed someday). It was pricy for the Speedo, if I were to do it again, I would pick up a MPH speedo (costs a bit less) and use it as if it were in KPH, if it were electronic, this would be a sinch to calibrate it that way.

Thats what my dads doing for the 7. He figures he will never go faster then 120 anyway. Crackhead.
It's a simple and cheap solution though. I would do it.

Hey all, now for some updates....

Correct hole saws found, holes drilled (most of them).

    Pics....

    So now all that is left;
    Drill holes for mounting tabs
    Make mounting Tabs
Drill Holes for Signal, Hi Beam, and Brake lights
Bead blast the back, to make it opaque
    Paint
Finish the rest of the dash
    and the list goes on.....
    and on.... <sigh>
