    cool, St. Patricks?

I remember meeting Keishin in 2000 or 2001 at a different website meet at Lansdowne mall. Him and another 86 were the lone corollas in a sea of Hondas. I immediately walked up to him and started asking him a hundred questions about AE86's. All which he happily answered! Then I remember a bigger Spanish banks bbq meet he setup a year later. Pretty sweet as he openly invited a non-corolla owner (me) to this meet. Met a few more DK peeps, and vividly remember a small incident w/ a cop car and a red coupe(?) who was a little tail happy.

Finally own a corolla of my own now. Good times....

Neat thread, just found it now. Looking up my regy date on the old board...

I'm not a major name around here by any means but I used to be alot more active with DK. Josh, jp86, a friend since childhood introduced me to the ol ezboard back in early 2001 when he still had his first corolla. I was still into supras then (got my first in 96) so I lurked for awhile learning all I could before I made my presence known. I just got my dream mk2, a pristine black 86 and took it to my first dk meet ever. The car died about 2 blocks from the meet location in Richmond. As the tow truck arrived a few DKers drove by and introduced themselves while the tow truck picked up my car . That was Dave C (AEDave), Gord (icegs) and one other fellow, can't remember who it was though. Yeah, embarasing way to meet but they became great friends in the years to come (the problem with the car was just a bad distributer connection, doh!). Eventually I got sick of there being no meets planned in the lower mainland so I took some initive and planned them for a couple years. After awhile I got into the local Celica Supra community and started planning meets for them as well. It just became too much work to do meets for both groups so I stuck with my true love (supras ). We got the a corolla a couple years ago for my wife however and thats kept me a little bit more active on dk (that and having so many friends on the board still).

ha, looking at a the few old PMs I have on the old board I just found this from some guy named Terry back in July 03...

"My name's Terry. I'm new to Toyota's (sort of), been into Hondas and looking for a bit of a change. Lots of good info on the site.

    Thanks for the welcome! "

I totaly forgot about that. Now Terry is Mr Lowermainland meet guy

Any chance of us getting these added to our profiles on the new board?

    Re:

Great thread; brings back some memories. I checked out my old ezboard membership, and it looks like I signed up April 11, 2001. However I was lurking since the beginning of the ezboard dori-kaze in 2000 or so. Was on Club4ag for a couple of years before that. Bought my first AE86 in 1999. Dang I'm starting to feel old. I miss the early meets in Vancouver...those were good times. Back when the ferries were affordable enough that I could justify the trip. The Alberta guys used to even come down for some of the meets.

Does anyone still talk to Yasin? He always had very well done vehicles. His truck was very cool.

    That's when i joined crazy!

    A cool story:

After a long night of drinking/clubbing i was driving home with my brother when suddenly this guy drove by in his black zenki coupe and told me to follow him. We drove into a dark alley and we got out of our cars and talked for a bit. Then out of no where Mr. Keishin popped out ! and that's how I met him.

    Another cool Tidbit;
many of the guys in Vancouver are linked through Scouts,

AFAIK, Brian, Panda86, Crazy Joe, and I all went to the same scout group at different times.

    Panda86 was Brians patrol leader
Crazy Joe? was Brians patrol member?
    Brian was my scout leader

    weird....

Neat. I am glad to a part of this community.

Thanks to all who have made this possible.

I have been here since July 18/04. I met Chris one night while driving my TE21. We talked on the phone and talked about a meet at his work. This was the Charlesglen Toyota meet in NW Calgary in June 2003. This meet was pretty cool, some original people were there. Including my man Paul Harris (Paul Corolla) who was in a bone stock TE27, so baller. LOL. We had burgers and pop, IIRC.

I will post some of those pics....

I jumped on the bandwagon shortly before the EZboard switch if I remember correctly...

My first and fondest memory was trying to talk Dave out of his white AE92 coupe and failing misserably at it!

The second best memory is Seamus' post regarding the sale of his blue 82 Supra. That was July 31st 2002... OMG, I'm OLD by DK standards!!!

Good times had by all... I love this place!

Awesome thread, brings back a ton of great memories! I met Chris & Q on Club4ag back in 1999-00? At the time I didn't have an 86 so I asked both for buying advice. With notes in hand, I took a chance on a neglected red 85 GT-S coupe from Vancouver in Oct '00. The rest as they say, is history.

The best part about this community hands down, are the friends I've made over the years!
